Providenciales, TCI, December 28, 2016 – While voter turnout was around 10 percentage points less than in 2012, highest voter turn-out was marked in North Caicos where Ralph Higgs of the PDM soundly topped Mark Fulford of the PNP by 61 votes, with no rejected or spoiled ballots.

The largest margin of victory of any candidate offering in the 2016 race was recorded in Five Cays, where now Deputy Premier, Sean Astwood was returned to serve with a margin of 201 votes more than his closest contender from the PNP, Rachel Taylor.  Markedly improving on her popularity, from the PNP side, is former Deputy Premier and Education Minister, Akierra Misick who recorded the widest margin of victory for the now Opposition party in Leeward and Long Bay.  One of three PNP women voted in, Missick in 2012 secured 32 more votes than Ezra Taylor; she got 87 more votes than Taylor of the PDM this time around.
