Providenciales, TCI, December 28, 2016 –  Burglary and attempted burglary; vehicle interference, theft, wounding, traffic accidents and a robbery had the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police very busy over the long holiday weekend.

On Christmas Eve, nearly 2am on Fresh Water Avenue in Blue Hills, there were three masked men trying to enter a residence… the home owner managed to scare the guys off and they escaped into bushes.  It may be that that trio was not done for the night though, as minutes later another man on the same street was approached as he tried to enter his home… distracted by one, ambushed by two he was struck in the head and robbed of two cell phones and six hundred dollars.  Seventeen minutes later, a third criminal attack on the same street, Fresh Water Avenue was reported.

This time, a car was broken into and documents and $900 in cash was taken from a Silver Nissan Tenant.  Payless Shoe Store on Leeward Highway, Provo was reported on Boxing Day morning as broken into; the safe and computer were taken after the culprits gained access by boring a hole into the roof of the business.  Police found the safe intact in bushes nearby.

Residents were not the only ones attacked by thieves… also on Boxing Day morning, a cell phone, purse, documents and cash were taken when a man jumped a tourist couple from behind while they were en route to their hotel.  Plus, a stabbing where the case was so serious, emergency surgery had to happen at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center.  The police were called to hear from the stab victim around 3:30am on December 27.

On the streets, it was busy too with traffic officers responding to 13 Motor vehicle accidents on Providenciales and two on Grand Turk between Friday December 23rd and Tuesday December 27th 2016.
