Providenciales, TCI, December 22, 2016New Deputy Commissioner of Police, Marc Callaghan has resigned, and Magnetic Media learned that since yesterday the Commissioner began advertising the vacancy within the ranks of his officers.

Our news room reached out to the Governor’s Office and the TCI Police Force today and received confirmation on the resignation, but no word on why Callaghan, who was announced in February and joined the TCI Police as the Deputy in March, is leaving so soon.    The Commissioner said he will advertise the job, but our sources say there is already a notice internally about the opening.
The Commissioner also today reported that there is a team of police officers from the Bermuda Police Service called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a 17 year old alleged suspect in Grand Turk on December 10, 2016.  Commissioner, James Smith explained that the matter is viewed with the ‘utmost seriousness.’

The boy, was found at Epic Corporate Establishment around 4:30am; he reportedly received non-life threatening injuries in the police involved shooting and is charged on suspicion of burglary.
