Life Sentence for 34 year old female

Providenciales, TCI, December 9, 2016 -Darline Saint Louis, 34 years old, was sentenced to prison for life after she was found guilty of Manslaughter in the Supreme Court today (Thursday 8th December 2016).

On Tuesday 29th September 2015, Police and emergency services responded to a home in Bottle Creek North Caicos, after a report was made of an unconscious six year old male child. It was later confirmed by a doctor that the child was deceased. As a result of this, Officers from the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Unit of the RTCIPF along with the Department of Social Services commenced an investigation. The investigation revealed that the child, Joas Saint Louis had a number of injuries about his body which resulted in his death. His mother, Darline was arrested and charged for murder.

The trial commenced in the Providenciales Supreme Court on Monday 28th November 2016 and ended today. Darline Saint Louis was found guilty of Manslaughter.  Before passing sentenced Judge Shuster described the act as horrible and that no child should be abused.

Sergeant Ensa Wilson of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Unit said, “It is our duty to safeguard all children living in the Turks and Caicos Islands,  we encourage  persons to report child abuse by making use of all available resources.
