It’s Official, Taylor is Speaker of the House

Grand Turk, TCI, December 29, 2016 – Applause rings out, rapping on the Governing side table as Hon Dwayne Taylor is now officially the Speaker of the House of Assembly after the election of the Speaker which was led by former Chief Minister and Third All Island Member, Hon Derek Taylor.

Hon Dwayne S. Taylor who once served as a Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, was a key part of the victory for the PDM at the polls on December 15, 2016 as the Party’s Campaign Manager; Hon Dwayne Taylor opened with Acts 17:28 which says in part, ‘ For in Him we live and move and our being…’

Fourth All Island elected Member, was the sole nominee and went unopposed as the ‘ayes have it’ to see, political newcomer, Hon Karen Malcolm accept the role and take the oath of allegiance as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.  Loud applause rang out for the founder of the TCI Heart Foundation.

Members are currently taking the oath of allegiance, beginning with the new Premier and new Deputy Premier; Hon Sharlene Robinson and Hon Sean Astwood respectively
