Christmas Message from the Commissioner of Police

Providenciales, TCI, December 23, 2016 – I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This is the season of great rejoicing as families, relatives, and friends reunite to celebrate the reason for the season. As we look forward to the New Year with big expectations and enthusiasm, I hope that we can continue to work together to make this country safe and secure.

Members of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have been working tirelessly throughout the year in an effort to reduce crime. Many initiatives and strategies that have been put in place to deal with Serious Crimes, Burglaries, and more minor incidents are producing very positive results. In the last three months alone, officers have conducted over 10 targeted operations, carried out 200 stop searches, arrested over 20 offenders and issued 250 traffic violation tickets. In Joint operations we have detained 96 illegal immigrants in some challenging and demanding circumstances.

As we ready ourselves to celebrate Christmas and usher in a new year, it is imperative to be very vigilant as criminals also want to celebrate in style by stealing what you have accumulated throughout the year. Be on the lookout for scammers who will try to employ tricks to obtain money from you under false pretenses, and you are asked to avoid withdrawing large amounts of cash from the banks.  We will continue our operational activities in the New Year with a focus on the serious and dangerous criminals that undermine the safety of citizens, visitors and the country itself.

As we come to the end of 2016, I extend the happiest Christmas and New Year wishes full of aspiration and new resolutions to all other Law Enforcement Agencies, well-wishers, members of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force including support staff and their families for their valued support, devotion and assistance throughout the year. We look forward to working closely again with you in the New Year.
