Will PNP shut down Expressions today; Some charge Censorship

Providenciales, TCI, November 30, 2016 – The country waits to see today if the PNP Administration will end the hosting stint of Jermaine Fulford and Audley Astwood on the national radio station, RTC.

Fulford and Astwood are believed to have gone too far in their hosting on the topic of the troubles at NHIP, believed to have used allegedly erroneous news reports namely from Magnetic Media and the TCI Sun Newspaper and believed to have allowed callers to unfairly accuse and abuse the PNP Administration.

There are a variety of views on whether that is actually the case; but reports are that Government Ministers and the Premier himself got involved and the pair was told not to return today for the open line talk show, Expressions.

The question looming now is whether the Government is boldly trying to censor information going to the general public; if so that would be unconstitutional among other things.

Yesterday the Finance Minister, Washington Misick made select media rounds to defend or counter what he said are unfair characterizations of the situation at the Health Board.

Magnetic Media’s report quoted directly from Cabinet notes coming directly from the Governor’s Office which expressed that the National health Insurance Board had perplexed Cabinet by taking so long to inform of their hemorrhaging financial state and as a result a review was recommended by PNP Ministers to the Governor for the end of January 2017.

No press conference has been called by the ministers responsible for Health and Finance to address the matter or offer clarity in the wider press core.
