Providenciales, TCI, November 25, 2016 – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning in collaboration with the Public Works Department, is pleased to announce that works in the Long Bay Sub Division Water Project has commenced.

This project, which was brought to the Ministry’s attention by Hon Akierra Missick was discussed and approved by Cabinet and subsequently the budget amount approved by the House of Assembly, granted approval for TCIG to enter into a hand over agreement with Provo Water Company, to assume full ownership of over 33,500 length of 3-6ft pipe, through the network in the Long Bay subdivision and with this, the sole responsibility for the maintenance of the city water pipelines for the purposed Long Bay sub-division water project.

Hon. Akierra Missick, Deputy Premier, and Member of Parliament for Leeward and Long Bay ED5 said: “This project arose from a need for the Long Bay Community to have access to City Water provided by Provo Water Company, as this Community was not fitted with the installation of a piped water network and the one provided by PWC is solely sourced and installed by the company.”

“As a result, many residents were not able to afford the exorbitant cost of installing their own network to connect to the central water system, forcing them to rely solely on water cisterns.”

The TCIG took the initiative to procure and install this network and afforded the over 250 plus homes in the Long Bay Community, affordable and reliable access to this vital resource.  It has now become necessary to revert the obligation of the new installed network and the sole responsibility for its operation and maintenance to the Provo Water Company in the completion of the four proposed phases.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning, her Ministry staff and the team at PWD, would like to congratulate the residents of the Long Bay Community for the delivery of this project and thank them in advance for their patience during the implementation of this project.
