Providenciales, TCI, November 8, 2016 – It is the largest rally turn-out so far, and the political rally with the most momentum since the General Election date was called and it was held last night by the People’s Democratic Movement.

The party in blue has now upped the stakes as we count down to voting day December 15 and all political parties, particularly the governing PNP will have to prove that it too can host an affair where voters are out in strong numbers and enthusiastic.  One by one the candidates mounted the stage to speak to their district but asking the 7200 electors across the country to vote PDM down the line and  to end a 14 year PNP rule.

Edwin Astwood is the Grand Turk & Salt Cay, incumbent.  “I came with greeting from Grand Turk, Salt Cay, the entire Grand Turk, we want you to know, that come December 15, we will be giving you two seats from Grand Turk.”
South Caicos candidate for the PDM, Keno Forbes is in one of the most challenging constituencies, a PNP stronghold but he said the people know him and that he will make history.  “They’ve been questioning my medical record, so I asked the people, do you want somebody with a medical record or a criminal record.”

George Pratt, a PNP defector talked about mental health, how it needs serious focus and told the Bight that he is their man.  “Whether it’s a learning disability, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, oh my God, Autism, this is something that the world is paying attention to, this is serious business, and we need serious people to go out to the poll and vote this change so we could have a serious government who is serious about the issues of the Turks and Caicos.”

Doug Parnell, who is offering in Cheshire Hall & Richmond aimed to prove that the PDM is not anti-foreign or an anti-Haitian party… he entered with a Compas band. “I know how to bring different people together, I’m the guy who stood here March 10, 2010 and brought everybody in this country together under the biggest unity march ever seen in Turks and Caicos.  But we are gonna unite this constituency under a PDM flag and bring it home.”

From salutes to single mothers, to statements that some candidates on the other side have no record, to promises on how to deal with unemployment, disenfranchisement, border control and crime – the PDM Party last night raised the bar and Magnetic Media expects that going forward, public engagement and perhaps public support will be amped all the way up.

Election day is 37 days away.
