Providenciales, TCI, November 7, 2016 – Nomination Day for the Turks and Caicos is in 11 days on Friday November 18 and this past Friday night, candidates got their nomination packages and had some questions answered by the Elections Office during a special convening at the Airport Hotel conference room.

We heard that the voting ballot paper for the at large candidates will be whopping 11×18 inches, that there will be two ballot papers – one for district and the other for the all island or at large.  Candidates heard plans to ensure a swift voting process for the electors, new allowances for poll workers, expanded voting for the larger districts and venues for the polling places.

All agreed that the Elections Office will have to take on an assertive educational campaign and some of that responsibility was passed on to the candidates by Elections Supervisor, Dudley Lewis.  Nomination process will take place from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm on the one day – November 18; endorsements for the Candidates must come from within the district for constituency seats and there must be at least two who will stand by and endorse the nominee.

For at large, the endorsees can come from any constituency.  There is a $500 deposit required.
