Eight women detained at South Dock holding facility

Providenciales, TCI, June 17, 2016 – At the South Dock Road Detention Center there is still mystery surrounding why eight women are being held at the facility.  The women who spoke to Magnetic Media through the opened but barred up windows and confirmed that there are six Venezuelans and two Dominicans in the group has been held for four days now.

No fans or A/c, hot or caliente as they put it, and lots mosquitoes explained the women who spoke only Spanish.  One woman was escorted by Immigration Officers off site; the officers had no comment for media on the scene.

The women, could be seen clad in underwear, showed us the flimsy foam they’ve been forced to sleep on and said there is nothing in the holding area.  The eight did say though they are being fed on time.  This situation not only raises concern about conditions at the holding center but questions about human trafficking.
