DECR receives new vehicles

Providenciales, TCI, November 8, 2016 – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning, in collaboration the Mechanical Services Division, within the Department of Public Works, announced the arrival of eight brand new vehicles for placement within the government fleet.

Two of these vehicles, for the purposes of compliance and enforcement, were received by the Department of Environment & Coastal Resources (DECR).

“We are indeed thrilled to be the recipients of two newly acquired vehicles for the DECR which will assist officers in executing their duties, particularly as it relates to responding to threats within the protected areas system, ultimately aiding in the protection of our precious resources”, said Hon. Porsha Stubbs-Smith, Minister of Tourism, Environment, Culture, and Heritage & Gaming.

The Chief Mechanical Superintendent on announcing the arrival of these vehicles stated, in a press release last week:  “With the addition of these new vehicles to the TCIG fleet, the receiving departments will now be able to perform their functions with minor disruptions relating to transportation. They can now confidently operate with new and reliable vehicles specifically suited for their departmental needs and purposes.”

The DECR is the recipient of two vehicles, which will effectively assist Conservation Officers with their duties of patrolling the national parks on Providenciales, and Grand Turk, effectively.
