COB soon to officially be ‘University of The Bahamas’

Nassau, Bahamas, November 9, 2016 – A Presidential Panel is convened at the soon to officially be ‘University of The Bahamas’ TONIGHT.  Speaking was Chancellor of University of the West Indies, Sir George Alleyne, and he says that 20 % of the Bahamian population is educated at the tertiary level according to his findings; Sir George explained to a robust audience that establishing a university could and should mean more people educated at a higher level.  This means better paying jobs but more significantly more qualified people for a more sound society.

Sir George says there must not be an underestimated importance of the Humanities and said this feature deals with identity and an inculcation of culture.  Graduates of the University he says, will be a part of the valuable Caribbean pool of talent. Sir Alleyne threw the support and well wishes behind UB.  The event, staged at the Performing Arts Center, falls on the eve of Charter Day and the Presidential Inauguration which is set for the National Stadium.
