Localized flooding will hamper movement in Provo today

Providenciales, TCI, October 31, 2016 – Several blinding down pours and a steady stream of rainfall has caused several localized flooding on the island of Providenciales.

Areas on Millennium Highway where there is new construction and other parts of Leeward Highway where there has been removal of some brush have given way to deep deposits of water which make roadways difficult to navigate, dangerous to motorists, impassible to pedestrians and have seen some vehicles stuck.

All of this rainwater will also mean more mosquitoes, as breeding sites are created naturally and will add to the already high number of mosquitoes around; mosquitoes which carry Dengue Fever, Chikungunya Virus and the Zika Virus.

Bahamas Met Office forecast calls for dangerous surf, breezy conditions, high seas and so a small craft advisory is in effect, dangerous rip currents, isolated thunderstorms and scattered showers caused by high pressure ridge anchored north of these islands.
