Providenciales, TCI, June 29, 2016 – A robbery in May of the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies has left the office limping, without vital equipment after burglars made off with a slew of critical items; Magnetic Media asked DDME Director Virginia Clerveaux about replacement.

“We lost two 50 inch smart televisions, about four desktop computers, a tablet is missing, we had backpacks with quick response equipment, various tools for early deployment, all purpose knives, flashlights, various stuff that we need to respond in the field were taken.  The police have a list, we’re hoping that if anybody knows who took it, they would either report it to the police or encourage that person to bring it back because we do need them and the life that we say may just be the person who burglarized our office.  So we’re sending out a plea to please return our equipment, we do need them, and we do need them to ensure that our country received timely warning and that if persons are impacted, that we have the necessary field equipment to allow early deployment.”

It is the second time the disaster office, which heads up Hurricane Planning for the country, has been hit by theft in recent years.
