Zika confirmed in The Bahamas

Nassau, Bahamas, August 11, 2016 – The Bahamas WEDNESDAY announced its first case of Zika; a man recently returned from Jamaica contracted the disease and now the entire country is on notice.

The press release issued yesterday by the Minister of Health, Dr. Perry Gomez reruns messages and slogans on the importance of keeping all surroundings clean and proactively working to reduce breeding sites for that Aedes Egypti mosquito.

The Bahamas with this announcement also rolled out an information website called, ZDCBahamas.com… the Z for Zika… the D for Dengue Fever and the C for the Chikungunua Virus – all mosquito borne.
