TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW FORMED NOW

Nassau, Bahamas, September 28, 2016 –  News item on Tropical Storm Matthew issued by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology forecast office section, at 12 pm Wednesday, 28th September, 2015.

At 11:00 a.m EDT, the center of Tropical storm Mathew was located near latitude 13.4 degrees north and longitude 60.7 degrees west or about 35 miles southeast of St. Lucia or 35 miles east-northeast of st. Vincent.  Mathew is moving toward the west at 21 mph.  A westward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days.  On the forecast track, the center of Matthew will move through the windward islands during the next couple of hours, and move over the eastern Caribbean sea through Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 miles per hour (mph) with higher gusts.  Gradual strengthening is forecasted during the next couple of days, and Matthew could become a hurricane by Friday.  The next news item will be issued at 6 p.m.
