Providenciales, TCI, September 21, 2016 – there is a reported ‘sick out’ at NHIP and according to a media statement it is so severe, it has forced the office to be closed to the public. There is assurance that emergencies will be handled and that staff will be contacted directly to ascertain why they did not turn up for work today.
Magnetic Media is told that the sick out is a quiet protest related to delays in a salary increase and staff resistance to the goal posts shifting when it comes to who and how one is qualified to get the raise. An emergency meeting of the Executives of the NHIP Board is set for 11 a.m; more details will come after, the release says.
It is reported that nearly all staff at the NHIP, which manages the country’s social health care plan, are out sick today.
