Providenciales, TCI, September 21, 2016  – At FortisTCI (the Company) a renewed focus and charge has been underway for several months by the Company’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department to enhance the safety culture throughout the organization. This includes the implementation of the Green Ribbon Safety Program designed by the EHS team to actively promote and recognize departments and individuals who are leading the way through good safety practices and providing solutions to work-related concerns.

A total of eleven employees and one department were honoured with the Green Ribbon Safety Award this August for their individual and team efforts to promote the importance of safety in the workplace. The awardees include Callis Jones, Kayla Lightbourne, Jeffery Desir, Talisha Simons, Denzel Penn, Archie Gaviola, Jessly Robinson, Deniro Handfield, Brenton Smith, Roxie Williams and Kelorian Forbes. The Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Construction team were honoured with a floating trophy as the first departmental winners having met all elements of the judging criteria. The T&D team beat out the competition with no Lost Time Accidents (LTA’s), 100% completion rate of EHS training, completion of daily tailboards, and reporting of numerous good catches. Awardees were treated to certificates, award pins, and breakfast with members of the senior management team and other colleagues to celebrate their achievements.

President and CEO Eddinton Powell said, “A strong culture of safety is critical to our operations. Not simply for the day-to-day functions of the business, but to ensure that all of our colleagues, especially those who work in some of the most challenging environments such as around engines and high voltage power lines, go home every day safe and sound to their families. There is nothing more important than the safety of our employees, which is why we emphasize training and strict safety standards.”

The FortisTCI EHS Management System is based on ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 Standards, and the Company is working toward full conformance leading to certification.  FortisTCI continues to operate under industry best practices in environment, health and safety.
