Second Illegal Sloop Intercepted for the week

A motorized fiberglass boat from Haiti was detected by the Coastal Radar Station and intercepted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force-Marine Branch at approximately 10:45 PM last night (Wednesday 4th May 2016) near the North West Point area.

 

The 45 foot white Fiberglass Sailing vessel bearing the name, “Different Drummer”, assisted with a Diesel Inboard Engine was escorted to the South Dock port where Officials from various Police units, Border Control, and other Government and Non-Governmental agencies were on hand to assist with the processing of these individuals. There were 81 souls on board consisting of sixty-six (66) males and fifteen (15) females.

 

Eighty (80) individuals were later transported to the Detention Center for further processing and detention, one male who appeared to be dehydrated was taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for medical assistance.

 

They will be repatriated later.
