Providenciales, 14 Aug 2015 – The score of seizing two guns by TCI Police officers came just hours after the Ministry of Youth announced a joint effort to rid the TCI of gun violence. The Stop the Gun Violence Rally and Campaign was announced in a press release last night and includes a team comprising of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Youth Affairs Akierra Missick; ASP Wayne Jones of the Police Force; President of TCI Firearm Sport Club, Lewis Smith; Senior Program Officer at Youth Affairs, Nixon Dickenson and Checkmate TCI Production Company.

The campaign is nationwide and will work to reduce gun violence.

Rallies, social media, TV and Radio Public Service Announcements, outreach on the streets and job fairs are all avenues through which the Minister says she hopes to reach the youth in particular with a message of ‘no more guns.’

The campaign launches in September and was announced to help commemorate UN International Youth Day, which is today.
