MONTEGO BAY, Jan. 28 (JIS): Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland, Dwayne Vaz, is urging members of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Westmoreland to take advantage of the three-day mobile business clinic currently in progress in the town of Savanna-la-Mar.
Speaking on January 27 at the launch of the clinic, Mr. Vaz said now more than ever, Jamaica’s future lies in the hands of entrepreneurs.
He said the business clinic, which is being staged by the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce through its agency, the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), comes at the right time to assist existing and potential business operators to properly plan and implement.
“There are lots of businesses out there and there are lots of benefits that can be derived from a seminar like this. We understand the difficulties that we face and we understand the economic challenges that are ahead. So, what I am asking everyone here to do…is try and create the opportunities that we always dream of. Let’s go out there and fuel growth, so we can heal our economy,” Mr. Vaz urged.
He emphasised that the future of Jamaica lies in the hands of entrepreneurs. “It is the creative and innovative minds of these persons that will shape the way forward for our economy,” Mr. Vaz added.
He is also encouraging business operators not to get bogged down by problems, but try and find creative ways to address issues in order to be successful.
“Every problem can be solved, but someone has to figure out how to solve it. There is always a need to be satisfied, but someone has to figure out how to satisfy that need and that person is an entrepreneur. We have to be creative and we have to be innovative in order to move the country forward,” Mr. Vaz said.
The clinic, which ends on January 29, is being staged under the theme: ‘Strengthening the Capacity of Jamaican MSMEs’.
