UK Territories Will Meet In Miami

Providenciales, 20 Oct 2014 – UK territories will be engrossed in a three day meeting in Miami starting tomorrow, and the plan is to present their concerns on national security and border control to the various Governors of the OTs.

Despite the failure of his Immigration Bill to get a second reading in the House of Assembly, Minister Donhue Gardiner shared his goal is to exhaust every avenue of getting more resources to strengthen legislation like the Immigration Bill 2014. This first of its kind meeting in Miami, Florida will see the Director of Immigration, Larry Mills; Intelligence Officer, Latoya Mitchell; Collector of Customs, Chawa Williams; Police Commissioner, Colin Farquhar and Head of Governor’s Office, Patrick Boyle at the event arranged by UK Home and Foreign Office.

Senior officials from Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, St. Helena, and Montserrat will be on hand. Also on the packed agenda, discussion on passport and visa issuing. Actions and conclusions will be presented to OT Governors and senior UK officials at the next Joint Ministerial Council in December.
