Providenciales, 08 Oct 2014 – The Turks and Caicos is not asking the Haitian government to pay for repatriations of its migrants trying to arrive illegally in the country … the Governor confirmed this in our one on one Monday. HE Peter Beckingham said that Memorandum of Understanding which still waits to be formalized between the two countries is more focused on discouraging the voyages in the first place.

It’s the first insight we have had into what the document actually contains as Governor Beckingham gave media private interviews as he marks one year in office. HE said the plan is to get Haiti to discourage the journey.

We asked about the Premier’s idea for drones. We asked for an update on the potential for greater sharing of human and sea craft resources between the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.
