Turks and Caicos, October 18, 2024 – The Environmental Health Department would like to inform all residents of Providenciales of recent changes in our garbage collection services. This transition phase has unfortunately led to some delays in waste collection over the past few weeks, resulting in a temporary increase in waste pile-ups in communities.
We understand the inconvenience that this has caused and sincerely apologize for the disruption. As we work diligently to clear the backlog, we kindly request residents to ensure that their waste is stored properly to facilitate efficient and safe collection. To help our teams and maintain the cleanliness of our community, please follow these guidelines:
• Report all uncollected waste to the Environmental Health Department via email, telephone or by visiting the office.
• Use Durable Bags: All garbage should be placed in bags to prevent tearing and spillage into the environment.
• Secure Garbage Storage: Bags should be secured in a proper garbage storage bin or a constructed garbage hut capable of holding up to two weeks’ worth of waste.
• Proper Placement: Ensure that your waste is placed in a location that is easily accessible for our collection teams.
Following these guidelines will not only speed up the collection process but also help prevent issues such as pests, odors and scattered debris.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this time. The Environmental Health Department is committed to restoring regular service levels as swiftly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Tel. 338-2143/2142.
