The women and girls in Haiti are disproportionately suffering from the ongoing and worsening crisis according to UN experts in a UN Human Rights council report on May 6. They say there is great concern for sexual misconduct against women and girls as gangs use sexual violence as a way to instill fear to acquire control.

Not only that, the experts inform that the risks and prevalence of trafficking of these women and girls for sexual exploitation and slavery, have increased.

While this is happening, Haiti’s Presidential Council which was supposed to start the journey to salvation for Haiti, is dealing with recent revelations of corruption following the naming of the Prime Minister which went against the political accords upon which the council was established.
