Two Jamaicans traveling from the Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), are now before the court after they were charged over the concealment of cash amounting to US$70,000.
According to reports from the police in Jamaica, the two who entered that country recently, hid the funds among hair products in their luggage, and after the seizure and questioning, they were charged with possession of criminal property, cross-border movement of funds, bringing criminal property into Jamaica, concealing criminal property, and conspiracy to bring criminals into Jamaica.
The police say that during security searches, what they call anomalies were detected in both their luggage, and US$39,828 and US$30,460 were found inside Baker and Blair’s luggage, respectively.
They were charged by detectives assigned to the Narcotics Police Division and are booked for appearances before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
