The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) will no longer accept cash for any transactions in its facilities, so what does this mean for customers? First off you’ll still be able to use your cash when at the country’s six international airports and at the vendors at each.

The press release refers to the Turks and Caicos Islands Airport as an entity and not the airports or its vendors with whom we have no control. This press release was to advise customers in whom we provide services like car park fees, airport ID and other services we offer,” said Nikeva Ariza, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communication when we contacted the TCIAA on Wednesday.

The announcement, shared with the public on Friday March 28th had said, “Effective April 1, 2024, Turks and Caicos Airports Authority will be transitioning to a cashless payment system across all our facilities. This means that we will no longer accept cash payments for any services or transactions.”

Going forward the TCIAA will accept credit cards for its services.

“This change is aimed at streamlining our operations, improving efficiency, and providing you with a smoother and more secure payment experience. The TCIAA understands that change can sometimes be challenging, but we believe that this transition will ultimately benefit our valued customers,” it said.

The TCIAA did not provide any further explanation behind the change.
