Peter, 46, commonly called Peetah, was the lead vocalist of Morgan Heritage, an all family group made up of siblings, the children of Jamaican reggae artist Denroy Morgan.

Morgan’s death was announced on Instagram by his family without mention of his cause of death and since then, plans for a memorial service have been shared.

Morgan Heritage shared on social media, “In this life, live for the cause and your name will live forever. So do JAH work and be remembered. These are the words of the great Peter ‘Peetah’ Anthony Morgan.

He, like the rest of his siblings, was not Jamaican born though they are well baked in the culture of their heritage.

Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 11th, 1977 and in life, had maintained, despite their birthplace, the five member band has strong roots in St Thomas, Jamaica.

Morgan Heritage was formed in 1994  after which they made great hits like “She’s still loving me” and albums such as “Miracles” their first, “Three in one,” “Strictly Roots,” which won them the Grammy Award for Best reggae Album in 2016 and their last album, “Loyalty” in 2019.

Shortly after forming the band and releasing “Miracles,” they moved to Jamaica where they grew in fame locally and internationally.

Before his passing, Morgan released new music with his own solo sound on songs such as “Stay Getting High” and “Let’s Do This”.
