CARICOM/Brazil Joint Commission Announced

#CARICOM#Brazil, February 29th, 2024 – In efforts to form stronger ties with Brazil, CARICOM is working to operationalize what is called the CARICOM Brazil Joint Commission, as announced by the President of Guyana Irfaan Ali. 

He says this development originated from documents signed between CARICOM and Brazil more than a decade ago and he referred to the expected benefits of this partnership.

Ali was speaking at a special engagement with the president of Brazil, at the 46th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting, and he highlighted other potential opportunities to collaborate with Brazil.

Brazil’s president Luiz Inácio da Silva who spoke at the meeting, made mention of various ambitions Brazil has for the Caribbean, a major one being, efforts to help Haiti.

And he expressed that Brazil wants to restore its presence in the region.
