TCI Police Confirm Identities of Seven Men Murdered in 2024

#TurksandCaicosIslands, February 23, 2024 – Seven young men have lost their lives in violent incidents in the Turks and Caicos since the beginning of 2024. Magnetic Media can now confirm the names of those lost and the incidents in which they were killed thanks to information shared by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

Jaycen Joshua Smith was killed in Blue Hills in a double shooting on January 3rd. Also in January, Jean Max Germain was shot on the 26th in Grand Turk in an incident that injured three other women aged 31, 36, and 38. 

Cyrial Smith and Aniel Saint Cyr were killed in a Providenciales parking lot on February 1st where four others were injured. Videos of the incident were widely shared on social media showing panicked tourists dodging bodies.

Hours later Jeremy Cox and Peureton Higgs were shot and killed in a February 2nd hail of bullets that injured 2 others including a 10 year old girl.

Finally, Jockeem Missick was shot in a daylight incident next to the HJ  Robinson High Sports Day. 

In all, but two of these incidents, multiple people were shot by perpetrators.

No one has been arrested in connection with the first six murders of the year, however police brought in three people in connection with the killing of Jockeem, no charges have been laid. And an additional trio of arrests are reportedly linked to a murder in Providenciales, but no specifics have been given and formal charges are still pending.
