#Independence#DominicanRepublic, February 27th, 2024 –  The Dominican Republic, today February 27th,  celebrates 180 years of Independence. The day is recognized as a public holiday, commemorating the declaration of independence  from Haiti in 1844. Before independence, Haiti and the Dominican Republic were combined into one nation until they overthrew Spanish colonisers in 1821. A flag raising ceremony was held this morning at 10 am.
