Ali announces efforts to end Regional Hunger and Malnutrition by 2030

#regionalhungerandmalnutrition#2030#IrfaanAli, February 27th, 2024 – President of Guyana and incoming chair of CARICOM Irfaan Ali announced major efforts to end hunger and malnutrition in the region by 2030, making mention of collaboration with international partners. He further revealed that Guyana is investing in a center to help fight, regional food insecurity. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 46th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting on February 25th, Ali highlighted that they also intend to utilize the region’s internationally recognized human assets to end hunger. According to statistics, fifty seven percent of the region’s population in 2023 were affected by food insecurity, a major rise of 1.3 million compared to February of 2022.
