#TurksandCaicos, January 12th, 2024 – TCI Government was this week in final stages of inking a deal with the new managers of the Providenciales landfill. Solid Waste lead, Kyle Knowles said.
“Contracts have been signed— its a cross section of experts who are going to be working to remedy this problem in Providenciales.”
The Environmental Health Department has been maintaining the sites since TCIG broke things off with TCEM in October 2018 and in that time there has been no lasting fix to the issue of the stench and fires at the dump, which has as its immediate neighbours at least three housing subdivisions, four schools and two resorts.
