#TurksandCaicos, January 16, 2024 – Confirmed! The young man, who quickly and quietly flew into the Turks and Caicos on January 9, 2024, was indeed a prisoner, transferred from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, according to Michael Woodbine, Head of the TCI Corrections Department. The two OTs assessed the potential safety risks and opportunities for rehabilitation before agreeing to the prisoner swap, which Woodbine assured us was well within protocol.

His swift and silent arrival was to preserve safety, and now that he is on the island, the prison superintendent says: “Prison Services have implemented robust security and safety measures. These measures are designed to minimize any potential impact or disruption to prison regimes, ensuring the well-being of all involved, including prisoners and staff.”
