#UnitedStates, January 9, 2023 – Studies are now showing that the COVID pill Paxlovid has a negligible effect on the development of long-term COVID-19. The most recent study was published in the Journal of Medical Virology. The drug is billed to shorten a COVID infection and make it less severe, but the study said that 16 percent of respondents who took it got long-term COVID, as well as 14 percent of those who did not take the drug. Those treated with Paxlovid experienced just the same amount of symptoms as those who were not during their bouts of long COVID. Thankfully, long-term COVID is rare, with less than six percent of adults affected, according to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
