Illegal Vessel Intercepted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force

(Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Thursday, December 28th, 2023):  The Marine Branch of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force successfully intercepted a sloop at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28th, 2023.

A total of 107 irregular migrants, including 96 males and 11 females, have been taken for processing by the Border Force Unit.

According to the Maritime Operations Centre, the vessel was intercepted by officers of the Marine Branch approximately 0.25 miles off South Dock, with both Police Marine Vessels Sea Pursuit and Sea Guardian responding to the situation.

Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams praised the dedication and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the Marine Branch in effectively addressing and managing such incidents. He remarked, “The successful interception of this illegal vessel is a testament to the exceptional work and ongoing diligence of our officers within the Marine Branch. I commend their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety and security of our waters and our community.  In addition, the collaboration and support of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment and The Border Force are also appreciated in addressing such incidents effectively.”
