#TurksandCaicosIslands, October 9, 2023 – John Alexander Robinson, a VIP Taxi Driver was killed on May 1, 2023 in a vehicle collision and held as responsible for the traffic fatality was Ilrique Laurecin, who met the $10,000 bail set as the matter is headed to trial.
Magistrate’s Court on Old Airport Road is where the case was heard.

Laurecin, native to Haiti is charged with causing the death of another driving dangerously.

The original court date was pushed back to another date due the fact his defense attorney Senior Counsel, Finbar Grant was tied up in another trial in the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

It appeared Laurecin was fluent only in Creole, as the four charges were read and include: 1. Causing death by dangerous driving. 2. Unaccompanied driving. 3. Using motor vehicle without insurance and 4. Failing to display “L”.

The Chief Magistrate told the man that one of the offences are a Supreme Court charge and would be sent up to the higher court. The Magistrate also informed the accused, that he “wouldn’t do it today nor proceed any further with this matter because your lawyer is preoccupied in the Supreme Court in Grand Turk.”

The matter was rescheduled to October 5, 2023.
