#TurksandCaicosIslands, October 5, 2023 – Grand Turk residents will host David Rutley, the UKs Minister for the Overseas Territories during his visit to the Turks and Caicos Islands this week. Having arrived on Sunday, the
minister will spend most of his four day visit looking at National Security threats and planning fixes for them, according to the Office of the TCI Governor.

The Nation’s Capital was announced as part of that tour on Monday October 2.

The ministerial portfolio held by Rutley falls under the blanket of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. It is posted that he has responsibility for:

 The Overseas Territories (including Falkland Islands)

 The Commonwealth

 Energy, climate and the environment

The position was most recently held by Zac Goldsmith who resigned following comments he
made about a government committee. Goldsmith had also made a point to visit the Turks and
Caicos Islands during his tenure as minister.
