Marijuana for medicinal purposes is gaining more traction in The Bahamas through this year’s Agriculture Week, with a special session.

The session, scheduled for Thursday October 12th,  is titled “A Regional Conversation on Cannabis” and high level stakeholders are set to give words on their experience with its medicinal uses.

Countries like Jamaica, Belize and St.Lucia are expected to speak on their plan going forward for Cannabis farming and stimulate substantial dialogue around it, according to Jomo Campbell, The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Resources minister at a press briefing.

He made the revelation as he announced it as part of the Caribbean Agriculture Week events.

Campbell urged those interested in growing medicinal cannabis to take part in the event virtually or in person.

Additionally, he said more information can be found on the Ministry’s Facebook page or on the website @cannabisbahamas.gov.bs to stay in the know about the Government’s policy on cannabis.

This comes at The Bahamas, just under four months ago,  introduced bills to legalize marijuana for medical and medicinal purposes.
