#TurksandCaicosIslands, October 9, 2023 – He was only 19 at the time of arrest and charged on June 3, 2022 and had been incarcerated since then, but this week, ALEXY AQUINO of Five Cays, Providenciales was made a free man, when charges in the firearms case were dismissed.

In 2022, Aquino had been arrested for allegedly discharging a firearm, putting another male individual in fear as he threatened him with a gun discharging it. Police, when they arrived at the crime scene, reported that they did find and collect spent shell casings for evidential value.

The 19-year old was also charged with caring ammunition. Now, 20 years old, Aquino watched the case fall apart. The virtual complainant (VC) told the office of the DPP that he wished no longer for the matter to proceed against the accused. Principal Public prosecutor Mr. Clement Joseph then entered a NOLLE PROSEQUI and the defendant was released from prison having spent 16 months on remand.

Aquino had been facing no less than SEVEN years imprisonment. He found that his bail was refused on each and every attempt and today, the matter is history for him. Jury selection was scheduled for the Grand Turk Supreme Court on Monday October 2 before his Lordship the Hon Mr. Chris Selochan.

The accused was represented by Lara Maroof Misick.
