#TheBahamas, October 9, 2023 – One man is dead and 9 people sustaining injuries and in hospital after a tragic boat accident in The Bahamas.
The boat operator, 28 years old, as reported in a release by the Royal Bahamas Police Force, was transporting an unconfirmed number of workers from Marsh Harbour to Montage Cay when the vessel unfortunately hit a reef which sent the passengers flying overboard.
As quickly as possible following the accident, a search and rescue party was organized, and 19 people were recovered and taken to receive medical help.
Nine of the nineteen rescued, the boat operator included, were deemed in need of additional medical attention and flown to New Providence for treatment.
The incident occurred on Friday October 6th, sometime after 8 p.m., the October 7th release said, adding that investigations to locate additional passengers who were on the vessel are happening.
