Beaches Resorts and Government of Turks & Caicos reach agreement

#TurksandCaicos, JOINT PRESS STATEMENT – December 23, 2020 –Recently, the Government of the Turks & Caicos Islands (TCIG) and Beaches Resorts announced a mutual agreement serving to resolve outstanding issues between the two parties. 

About the matter, Premier Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson stated, “As Premier and Minister of Finance, I am pleased that TCI Government has reached an amicable resolution with the Sandals Group on this long outstanding issue that pre-dates my Government; the agreement is an important one for the Turks and Caicos Islands. We are looking forward with great excitement to the days ahead as we, together with our tourism partners, welcome guests to our beautiful corner of the World.” 

Comparably, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, Chairman of Beaches Resorts, said, “We are committed to this long-term agreement and working together for the betterment of the country. I wish to commend those who work tirelessly to put Turks and Caicos on the map; our incredible staff and the dedicated executive team led by the steadfast Adam Stewart. We will now turn our attention to what we do best: introducing the World to the beauty and hospitality of these extraordinary Islands.” 

Deputy Chairman of Beaches Resorts echoed that sentiment, adding, “We wish to thank all those involved that led us to this most successful accord. I extend gratitude to the Premier and to Governor Nigel Dakin, who was instrumental in this coordinated effort.”

Beaches Turks & Caicos reopened on December 21, following its temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic and welcomed its first guests for the start of the winter tourist season. The award-winning property is located on Grace Bay’s pristine 12-mile stretch and boasts nearly 800 rooms and suites.
