Promotion for Caley to Director of TCI Road Safety Department

#TurksandCaicosIslands – November 16, 2020 — The Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Wilbur Caley as the new Director of the Road Safety Department within the Ministry of Home Affairs, Public Utilities and Transportation.

Mr. Caley was born and raised on the island of Grand Turk.  His career background includes 10 years of service in the TCIG Customs Department; 20 years of service as a Managing Director in the Insurance industry and service on a number of statutory boards including the Air Transport Licensing Authority (1994), Chairman of the Turks and Caicos Library Board (1995), Member of the Public Service Commission (2001) and Member of the National Health Insurance Board (2009-2012).

Mr. Caley rejoined the civil service in 2016 as the Deputy Director of the Road Safety Department, holding the responsibility for the administration of the Road Safety Department in Providenciales and following the departure of the former Director, was appointed to the post of Acting Director holding the responsibility for the enforcement of the Road Safety Ordinance throughout the entire TCI.

Commenting on his appointment Mr. Caley stated; “I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the TCI Civil Service and to lead the work of the Road Safety Department. My aim is to ensure that the TCI motoring public is given the service they deserve in an environment of fairness and transparency.  There are a number of initiatives that we are working to bring to fruition with other departments such as the Police and Immigration for the benefit to all residents of these Islands. No effort will be spared in our quest to build safe driving conditions and streets that will make the public proud.  I am grateful or the opportunity to serve and look forward to improving the services that we offer.”

Deputy Governor Anya Williams in congratulating Mr. Caley on his appointment said; “I wish to extend congratulations to Mr. Caley on his recent promotion within the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service and wish to commend him on his stewardship of the Road Safety Department.  We wish him well on his new appointment and look forward to continued improvements within the Road Safety Department.”
