#GrandTurk, Turks and Caicos Islands – September 17, 2020 – Construction workers are now added to the essential travel list in the Turks and Caicos Islands and can move between the islands for the purpose of work. The TCI Ministry of Health on Wednesday (September 16) issued a statement outlining changes and sharing the link to the new portal, also activated on Wednesday.
“Approval
for travel by construction workers effective 15th September 2020 is
considered essential travel under the following terms; “Travel by construction
workers for construction project work, with the written approval of the
Permanent Secretary, Infrastructure following approval of the Chief Medical
Officer shall be considered essential travel:
Provided that measures as may be approved by the Ministry are put in
place”.
The
Local Travel Portal will be managed by the Ministry of Health and is found on
its website.
“Persons wishing to travel for essential
purposes should apply using the link and they will be guided through a series
of fields to complete. Existing applications will still be processed, however
the general public is advised to commence using the new portal.”
Additional
stipulations are: requirement to apply
within 48 hours of intended date of travel;
applications will need to be submitted for each person in a travel
group; expect a unique ID to be generated by the Ministry per person; approvals will be strictly for the dates of
travel and applicants are encouraged to ensure their travel is “absolutely
essential” as non-essential travel will be denied.
