#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – March 18, 2020 — The Grace Bay Resorts Foundation announced the achievement of nearly $200,000 in donations for 2019 to the Turks and Caicos community. With a focus on education, the foundation was created with a commitment to contributing to the future of the islands’ community.

The foundation is strengthened by its dedicated staff, guests, and partners who together provide support to local schools and facilitate donations towards materials, scholarships and high-school internships that help students gain experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. “Grace Bay Resorts Foundation began the year with a budget of $75,000 and thanks to the kind donations from our guests and owners, and the generosity of corporate citizens through various fundraising efforts, we were able to more than double our original planned donation; thus giving us the ability to contribute nearly $200,000 to community projects,” said Johnna Messam, Director of the Foundation.

Through the assistance of all of our Resorts, the foundation participated in several fundraising efforts throughout the year, including ‘Pitch Please,’ an innovative competition providing entrepreneurs with start-up capital.

Additionally, the resort partnered with a local museum on renovations that will preserve and promote art, culture and community. “Our goal as a foundation has been to consistently demonstrate how tourism and the hospitality industry can benefit the larger community,” said Mark Durliat, CEO and co-Founder of Grace Bay Resorts.

“We are proud of this past year and look forward to all of the ongoing support with much more in store for 2020.” Grace Bay Resorts is passionate about creating sustainable programs to better the community and will continue fundraising efforts to secure new educational opportunities for our future leaders.
