Manufacturing Sector continues to grow in Trinidad and Tobago

#Trinidad – February 10, 2020 —- Local distributor and manufacturer of pipelines, New Wave Marketing Limited (NWM) was congratulated by the Trade and Industry Minister, Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon for their contribution and investment in the manufacturing sector. Speaking during a tour of the company’s manufacturing facility on Tuesday 4 February, 2020, the Trade and Industry Minister noted the company’s achievement of the NSF-14 Certification in less than six months of manufacturing – the only Company in CARICOM to achieve such certification. She said “This dedication to quality products is definitely something the Government can endorse as we aim to create a global name for our manufacturing sector”.

Minister Gopee-Scoon commended New Wave Manufacturing for supporting the transformation of the economy as evident by the significant investments made over the years into their business operations/expansion, which not only benefits the company, but also the wider manufacturing sector and the national economy. Noting that the company was fit for the export market and poised for growth, Minister Gopee-Scoon encouraged them to develop partnerships with the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association and the EXIM Bank to tap into new markets and acquire the necessary foreign exchange. During the tour the Trade Minister, witnessed a forty –foot container with product destined for the Dominican Republic. New Wave Marketing currently exports to St. Kitts and Nevis, Guyana and Puerto Rico.

Mr. Jaikishan Ramkissoon, Director, New Wave Marketing Limited, thanked the Trade Minister for the support given to promoting local manufacturing in Trinidad and Tobago especially the construction industry. He said “after one and a half years in the plumbing sector of manufacturing industry, we have captivated 85% of the local market and we look forward to working with all stakeholders for greater growth locally and regionally”. NWM has been in existence for approximately 35 years as wholesaler for PVC pipes, fittings and products in the water works industry, and entered the manufacturing sector in 2018.

Ms. Franka Castelloe, President, Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association expressed confidence that New Wave Marketing Limited will continue to grow and develop beyond borders and into export markets. She said “New Wave Marketing is a good footprint of Trinidad and Tobago’s SME’s and the TTMA is proud to represent them in their journey into new markets”.
