Coral Harbour Base, 17 NOV. ‘19 (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force congratulates Marine Seaman Shaquan Porter on being chosen Marine of the Month of October for the RBDF Deployment Team on the island of Abaco.
This recognition is given to an individual who has displayed an exemplary work ethic while on deployment during the hurricane relief efforts on that island. Throughout the course of his deployment, Marine Seaman Porter has risen to meet the challenging and diverse demands placed on Defence Force Personnel. A member of the latest squad of New Entry 56 and Woman Entry 25, he has stood as a beacon of encouragement and source of strength to his fellow squad-mates, and by extension the wider contingent deployed throughout Abaco.
From assisting at the various distribution centers to sentry posts at the Marsh Harbour port and numerous other duties, Marine Seaman Porter embraced the vocation of an enlisted Marine. Having not yet garnered the experience as his seniors and superiors, respectively, he has displayed the mannerisms and tenacity of a man driven by purpose and determined to get the job done. Rising up to meet the hourly changing dynamics of the vigorous deployment of Abaco, Marine Seaman Porter has exemplified and is the true embodiment of the men and woman the RBDF can cultivate.
Let your deployment in Abaco stand as a testament to your bright career on The Royal Bahamas Defence Force, May God continue to be the wind in your sails and your anchor in the storm. Today we stand united with one voice, from Commanding Officer Northern Command and Commanding Officer Hurricane Relief (Abaco and Grand Bahama) – Commander Michael Simmons, other officers, senior rates and junior rates alike, Marine Seaman Shaquan Porter we SALUTE you.
