#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – October 23, 2018 – Perhaps it was miscommunication or a misunderstanding as everyone on the site at Maranatha Academy was under the impression that the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police would return to the school this morning to give an official ‘all clear’ and allow school to assume regular operations.

However, in a media release today, the Royal Turks and Caicos Police said: “The Public is advised that there was indeed police response to the initial report made by the Maranatha High School yesterday, October 22nd, 2018 in reference to a Bomb Threat. A report was made at 3:36 p.m., the police responded and cleared the scene. We are currently reviewing our response to a request to clear the building today, October 23rd, 2018.”

The media statement and attempt by Police to explain what happened in the ‘bomb threat investigation’ did little to bring clarity to the reason repeated calls for Police presence today by the school and parents, went unanswered for most of the morning.

Ideally, the Police Department is expected respond to civilian calls for help.
