#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Friday August 24, 2018 – The Coastal Radar spotted the boat and the Royal Turks and Caicos Police marine branch intercepted it, foiling the illegal landing of 55 Haitians.

Eight females and 47 males were on board the vessel, believed to have originated from nearby Haiti.

The Police report explained:  “The detainees were transported to the South Dock Port and handed over to the Task Force members who escorted them to the Detention Centre for processing.”

The boat was intercepted around 11 p.m. on Thursday by a Police crew on board the Sea Pursuit of the Marine Branch.

On Thursday afternoon, there had been rumors swirling that another illegal sloop from Haiti was en route to the Turks and Caicos; this interception seems to support that sometimes social media buzz has merit.
